2015 was a wonderful year for me. I got to study abroad at Salzburg College in Austria. It was an amazing experience that I'll never forget and hopefully will help me improve my writing tenfold.
While 2015 was great, I'm hoping to make 2016 even better. For the past couple of years I have chosen a word that I want to define my year. 2014 was balance and 2015 fearless.
This year my word is....
I really, really want to focus on my writing and my writing career. While I had the best time in Austria, I didn't accomplish much writing. That's okay because I really wanted to experience the country and all it had to offer while I was there. But now I'm back and it's time to get to work. I'm graduating after this semester and that means I have to find a job, in the REAL WORLD. To say the least, I'm terrified. My dream job is to be a full time writer so to do that I need to FOCUS.
To help me focus this year I've made some goals for myself. I've split them into three categories: reading and writing and social media.
2016 Reading Goals:
Read 55 Books
Read all books by one author I've never read before ----> this year I've chosen Alexandra Bracken (admittedly I already started this goal in 2015 because I have the opportunity to meet her in a few weeks and needed a head start)
Read at least 5 debut novels
Read 1 craft book
2016 Writing Goals:
Finish editing my novel THE ROAD TO RUIN
Send it to CPs and get feedback
Write a decent query letter
Send that decent query letter to agents
Finish the 1st draft of PATIENT ZERO
Outline more burning story ideas
2016 Social Media Goals:
Be more active on Twitter and Instagram
Be more active in the writing community all together
So there you have it my goals for 2016. As of January 1st it feels like it will be a good year ;) We shall see. What are some of your goals and/or resolutions for 2016?
