This post is amazingly late (well a week late), but school and work have been stressing me out a little more than I expected them to. Anyway that's a whole other can of worms. During the month of January I managed to read 5 books (technically one was a comic book, but I'm countig it anyway). I'm very happy with this, especially considering the reading drought I've been in for the past 3 weeks.
Books I read in January:
THE DREAM THIEVES by Maggie Stiefvater
THE DREAM THIEVES is the second book in THE RAVEN CYCLE. Just like THE RAVEN BOYS it was amazing and I love how this series is shaping up. I won't go into much detail because this is a sequel and because frankly this series is a little hard to expalin. Basically if you haven't started it yet, do.
SAGA VOL. 1 by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples
This is the first volume of the comic book, SAGA, bind-up. It follows two soldiers from opposite sides of a an intergalatic war, who have fallen in love and had a baby. Now they're being hunted by multiple governments when all they want is to be able to raise their child.
Vol. 1 was loads of fun. It takes place in a very colorful world full of many different types of people. From what I've heard each volume gets better and better.
TRUTHWITCH by Susan Dennard
As one of my most anticipated books of 2016, I had a lot of expectations going into TRUTHWITCH, like a lot of expectations. I am happy to report that it met all of them and even more!!
TRUTHWITCH is a high fantasy novel following two best friends as they get caught up in a war that breaks out over their land.
It is so much better than that description. The bottom line here is: GO READ TRUTHWITCH!!
NEVER FADE by Alexandra Bracken
NEVER FADE is the second book in THE DARKEST MINDS trilogy. I really liked the first book, but I loved NEVER FADE even more! It pulled me in a did not let got.
NEVER FADE picks up a couple of months after the first book ends. I can't say much because it'll spoil how book 1 ended. I will say that the ending to NEVER FADE killed me though.
LAWLESS by T. M. Frazier
LAWLESS is the third book in the KING series. While books 1 and 2 follow the characters King and Doe, book 3 follows brand new characters Bear and Thia. I'm not going to go into detail here simply because these books are for adults only.
Admittedly I did not enjoy Bear and Thia nearly as much as I did King and Doe. Still, these books are quick reads and I'll probably read their follow-up when it comes out.
So these are the books I read in January. At present I've been in a reading drought, basically I've been too stressed to read, but I'm hoping to pull through that very soon and pick up my reading pace.
